VET Student Outcomes Snapshots

NSW Department of Education is providing data on VET student outcomes to training providers, potential students and employers to get better outcomes for VET students across NSW.

By using data from the 2019 National Student Outcomes Survey (SOS), Training Services NSW has developed the VET Student Outcomes Snapshots which contain a set of performance indicators for each Smart and Skilled provider. More information on the SOS can be found on NCVER’s website.

The following performance indicators are used in the Snapshot:

  • Employment benefit
  • Personal benefit
  • Achieving main reason for training
  • Training relevance
  • Student satisfaction
  • Overall non-dropout rate
  • Disadvantaged non-dropout rate

For each indicator, the Smart and Skilled provider is compared against all other providers in NSW Smart and Skilled market.

In addition, their performance is compared against a peer group of Smart and Skilled providers that have similar attributes. These attributes include: number of students, location, types of qualifications delivered and proportion of disadvantaged students.

Not all providers will have information available on their performance indicators. This is due to an insufficient number of student responses to the survey, meaning that they were not statistically reliable. Further statistical details are available in page 2 of each Snapshot.

Any questions regarding the Snapshots can be sent to vetstudent.outcomes@det.nsw.edu.au.
